Researcher and photographer to host shark talk

The Hawaii State Library will host "Sharks and Rays of Hawai`i" at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 in the library's Hawaii and Pacific Room. Admission is free.
Internationally-known shark researcher and author Gerald L. Crow and author/photographer Jennifer Crites, will conduct the slide presentation program.
The authors will share information about some of the 40 different shark species found in the ocean waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands, from the feared tiger and great white sharks to the strange-looking cookiecutter and megamouth.
Learn how telemetry and other tracking studies help scientists understand shark behavior, and about present efforts and future possibilities for shark conservation.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, this one-hour program is suitable for ages 12 to adult.
