Michelle Wie wears a bandage on her injured right wrist, which she says, “hurts a little bit.”

This time it wasn't a scorecard or looping earings that was Michelle Wie's conversation piece in the Sony Open in Hawai'i interview room. It was a tender, well-wrapped right wrist on exhibition.

A bandage of approximately 3 inches covered the area from her thumb to wrist heading toward tomorrow's opening round of the first PGA full-field event of the year at Waialae Country Club.

Wie, 17, said it is the result of an injury suffered at the Samsung World Championship in California in October that has yet to heal. "I had a little injury a few tournaments back and I haven't had enough time to rest," she said. "It feels a little iffy but I'm still going to play. It's not that bad."

Wie said the injury resulted from, "being all over the place at Samsung. I was on the cart path. I hit a shot fat off the cart path and that kind of started things."

Wie said she's been told the injury is everything from, "a tendon strain ... a pinched nerve. It's a this, it's a that, it's everything. But it's not that bad. It hurts a little bit but not enough to stop me from playing."

Two years ago Wie cited a wrist injury for withdrawing from the Pearl Open.

Meanwhile, the caddie shuffle will continue for Wie with her father, BJ, returning to the bag for this tournament.

Her last regular caddie, Greg Johnston, was dismissed this past summer after the Women's British Open. He had been her longest-running caddie with 10 months on the bag before being released and a permanent replacement has yet to be named.

Her father, a professor of travel industry management at the University of Hawai'i, has worked the bag from time to time since her amateur days. He last worked her bag in a professional tournament in the summer of 2005. BJ Wie was at the center of a controversy in the 2003 U.S. Women's Open where Danielle Ammacapane claimed Wie and her father walked in the extended putting line.

In preparation for the Sony Open, Wie said her father, "(has) been carrying the bag, working out and getting acupuncture with me."
