Parker McLachlin, a Punahou alum making his debut as a PGA Tour member, birdied two of his final four holes to rally for a 2-over-par 37-35—72 in the first round of the Sony Open in Hawaii at Waialae Country Club.

McLachlin, who now resides in Scottsdale, Ariz., had three birdies and five bogeys in the round.

Starting on the back nine, he bogeyed his first hole — a 351-yard, par 4.

He parred his next two, but bogeyed the 471-yard, par-4 13th.

He later bogeyed the 398-yard, par-4 15th to go 3-over.

McLachlin then birdied the 551-yard, par-5 18th to make the turn at 2-over 37 on the par-70 course.

He bogeyed the 423-yard, par-4 No. 2 hole to fall back to 3-over.

But he birdied the 460-yard, par-4 No. 6 only to bogey the next hole — a 176-yard, par 3.

He closed his back nine with a birdie on the 506-yard, par-5 ninth for a back-nine score of even-par 35.
