Roadwork along Kapi'olani Boulevard to resume

A water and sewer line project along Kapi'olani Boulevard will resume Sunday.

One lane in each direction of Kapi'olani Boulevard between Pensacola and Kamake'e streets will be closed 24 hours a day during the work. There will also be temporary lane closures on Kapi'olani Boulevard between Ward Avenue and Kamake'e Street and along Kamake'e Street. Through traffic will be allowed on the roadway.

The project also putting contraflow lanes in place, starting Tuesday. Morning contraflow lanes will end after the McCully Street intersections. There will be no afternoon contraflow lanes.

The Board of Water Supply and the city are participating in the joint project, which includes the installation of new water mains, a rehabilitation of the existing sewer system, a new sewer force main on Kalakaua Avenue and curb ramp work.

The project, suspended for two months during the holiday season, is expected to be completed in 2008. For more information, visit www.kapiolaniwatersewer.org or call 538-1157 during normal business hours.
