Sony Open: McLachlin shoots 1-under, misses cut

Parker McLachlin, a Punahou alum making his debut as a PGA Tour member, shot a 1-under 69 in the second round and just missed the cut in the Sony Open in Hawaii at Waialae Country Club.

McLachlin, who shot a 2-over 72 Thursday, had a two-round total of 141, 1-over.

The cut was 140.

He parred the first hole but double bogeyed the second — a 423-yard, par-4.

He birdied the 506-yard, par-5 ninth to make the turn at 1-over 36.

He then birdied the 440-yard, par-4 No. 12 and the 430-yard, par-4 No. 14.

He bogeyed the 398-yard, par-4 15th, but rallied to birdie the 551-yard, par-5 18th.
