Kuril Islands area rocked by aftershocks

There have been five substantial aftershocks in the area near Japan's Kuril Islands following the 8.2 magnitude earthquake at 6:23 p.m. Hawai'i time yesterday. The quake also caused a tsunami watch to be issued for Hawai'i, but it was cancelled.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued the advisory about 6:35 p.m. and cancelled it about two hours later after determining the quake had not generated a destructive tsunami.
Following the 8.2 magnitude temblor, the Kuril area was rocked by:
iA 5.0 magnitude aftershock at 8:09 p.m. Hawai'i time.
iA 5.1 aftershock at 8:44 p.m.
iA 5.2 aftershock at 10:20 p.m.
iA 5.8 aftershock at 11:18 p.m.
iA 5.6 aftershock at 11:38 p.m.
