Hokule'a leaves Tuesday at earliest for Micronesia

KAWAIHAE, Hawai'i — The voyaging canoes Hokule'a and Alingano Maisu will not leave on their voyage to Micronesia until at least Tuesday.Voyage organizers yesterday said extremely strong winds in the 'Alenuihaha Channel must abate before they will begin the trip.
A ceremony to mark the completion of preparations and to thank the community has been scheduled today at 4 p.m. at Mahukona Harbor, north of Kawaihae.
