Chantella Perera scored a career-high 28 points as Fresno State fended off Hawai'i, 75-69, in overtime yesterday in a Western Athletic Conference women's basketball game at Fresno, Calif.

A crowd of 1,051 at the Save Mart Center watched Hawai'i (6-10 overall, 0-4) drop its fifth straight game and fourth conference game.

Fresno State (10-7, 3-1) won its sixth straight over Hawai'i.

Hawai'i's Tanya Smith had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Iwona Zagrobelna added a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, Janevia Taylor had 15 points and Pam Tambini chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rainbow Wahine rallied from a 13-point first-half deficit and an eight-point hole with four minutes left to tie the game at 63 on a pair of free throws by Zagrobelna with nine seconds left in regulation.

Tierra Wilson's long jumper at the buzzer was off the mark for the Bulldogs, sending the game into overtime.

Hawai'i scored the first basket in the five-minute extra period to lead, 65-63, but Fresno State scored six straight and would not let Hawai'i back into the game.

The Bulldogs outscored the Rainbow Wahine, 12-6, in overtime.

The Rainbow Wahine outrebounded Fresno State, 50-37, but Hawai'i committed 16 of its 24 turnovers in the first half and trailed by 11 at the break.

Wilson added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Hawai'i's five-game skid is the longest since 2004, which was the final season under longtime coach Vince Goo.

Hawai'i will host a pair of WAC games against Idaho on Wednesday and Boise State on Saturday.

Both games start at 7 p.m.
