Still no sign of missing North Shore surfer

Advertiser Staff

Searchers found no sign today of missing surfer Joaquin Velilla.

He went surfing Thursday evening at Banzai Pipeline and has not been seen since.

The Honolulu Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and North Shore lifeguards have searched by air and boat for the 35-year-old surfboard shaper.

The only sign of Velilla to turn up so far is his surfboard. A fire department spokesman said "an anonymous person" found Velilla's board Thursday night at 7 p.m. at 'Ehukai Beach Park near Pipeline.
