By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Staff Writer

"One Man, One Voice — Kris Kristofferson," a film biography of Kris Kristofferson that tracks four decades of his career as actor, composer, singer, musician and part-time Maui resident, has won an Aurora Award in an independent film and video competition.

Kenneth K. Martinez Burg-maier, a Maui-based documentary filmmaker active in profiling cultural figures, produced, directed and wrote the film, which won in the musical-variety division. The film was largely shot in Kahului and Hana, pegged to a special live performance.

"One Man, One Voice" will have a world premiere at the Tiburon International Film Festival March 22 through 30 in Tiburon, Calif. A slot on the Nashville Film Festival later this year also is on tap.

Burgmaier is known for documentaries on Keola Beamer, Frank DeLima and the Festival of Canoes ("Wa'a Ho'olaule'a"). Uncle Boy Kanae was co-producer of the Kristofferson project.

The film will be available on DVD later this year, with proceeds going to 'Ohana Makamae.
