Health TV targets community

"Hawaii Health TV," which combines healthcare topics with the healing sounds of Hawaiian and Island music, is airing programs at 9 p.m. Thursdays on channel 52, 'Olelo Hawai'i television.

Hawaii Health TV was created by Peter Leiataua AhChing, a senior medical student at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, and Hoku award winner Palakiko Thomson Enos of the Typical Hawaiians.

Hawaii Health TV (H2TV) goals include education about common medical conditions and healthcare topics in Hawai'i, and fostering good partnership between patients, their families and medical providers.

Filmed episodes showing in 2007 include, diabetes, ice (methamphetamine) addiction, smoking, alcoholism and depression in the holidays.

New episodes will include dealing with gout, asthma, HIV and AIDS, and sexually transmitted diseases.
