Fireworks complaints continue in Kalihi
Advertiser Staff
The illegal use of fireworks continues to be a headache for police and firefighters.
Police were sent twice last night to the 1300 block of Kamehameha IV Road, not far from the Kalihi Police Substation, in response to complaints about someone setting off firecrackers.
But both times, police were unable to find the offenders.
Police officials have said in the past that officers must literally catch someone in the act of setting off fireworks illegally to make an arrest.
The number of fireworks complaints peaks around New Year's Eve and the Fourth of July each year the two occasions they may be set off legally and tapers off fairly quickly after the holidays pass.
