Accused shoplifter released pending investigation

A 48-year-old woman visitor from Japan arrested Monday night at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center on suspicion of stealing $4,187 worth of items from a store was released pending further investigation. The woman was under investigation for second-degree theft.A loss-prevention officer stopped the woman at 9:02 p.m. after seeing her take items and leave the store without paying.
