Elderly pedestrian killed on Young Street identified

A woman who was killed yesterday when she was struck by a car while crossing Young Street at Pi'ikoi Street has been identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as In Jae Kim, 81.

Police said Kim was not in a crosswalk when she was hit at about 12:30 p.m. by a van driven by a 69-year-old Honolulu woman.

Kim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and died a short time later, police said. The driver of the van was not injured.

Police said conditions at the time of the accident were clear and dry, with medium traffic. Speed and alcohol were not considered factors in the accident, police said
