Schuler Family Continues Spirit of Giving

The Schuler Family Foundation Commits to Donations of $550,000 to Three Windward Oahu Non-Profit Organizations

Honolulu, Hawaii – The Schuler Family Foundation today announced that it will donate over a half a million dollars to three Windward Oahu organizations. The Windward Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Club, Castle Medical Center and Le Jardin Academy are the fortunate beneficiaries of Schuler Foundation's generosity and commitment to the families and children of Hawaii.

"We deeply care for the communities we serve," said Jim Schuler, President and Founder of the Schuler Family Foundation and West Region President for D.R. Horton. "We are honored to be part of the Windward Oahu region, and pleased to share our aloha with these special recipients, who are dedicated to providing important services and making a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors."

The Windward Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Club is receiving $200,000. The Clubhouse currently operates out of Kailua Intermediate School, and offers various programs and services to area youth and teens during critical after school hours and all summer long.

"The youth at the Windward Clubhouse will directly benefit from this wonderful, generous gift," said Suzy Churchill, Boys and Girls Club Board Director and member of the Windward community. "We are grateful for the Schuler Family Foundation's incredible commitment to Hawaii and our children."

$100,000 will go to the Castle Medical Center, a full service medical center offering a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and home-based services including diagnostics. Castle Medical Center is a 160-bed facility and serves all of O'ahu and is the primary health care facility for Windward O'ahu. The hospital is owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and operated by Adventist Health.

"We are thankful for Schuler Family Foundation's donation," said Kevin A. Roberts, President and CEO at Castle Medical Center. "With this bequest we are closing in on our goal of fully funding the expansion of our medical center to ensure our facility remains at the forefront of high-quality health care delivery for our communities."

Le Jardin Academy, a college preparatory school located in Kailua, will receive $250,000 from the Schuler Family Foundation. Seven years ago the school opened its doors to their current campus at the site of the former Kailua Drive-in, and in the fall of 2002 enrolled its first class of high schoolers, celebrating their graduation in June of 2006.

"On behalf of our students, faculty and staff, I'd like to thank Schuler Family Foundation for their generosity," said Adrian Allan, Headmaster, Le Jardin Academy. "This wonderful gift contributes to the development of new buildings which will accommodate our school's growth as we perpetuate our mission to help our students foster respect and concern for the welfare of others and prepare for the unfolding journey of their lives."

The Schuler Family Foundation mission is to foster programs benefiting our communities, in particular, programs focusing on healthcare, on the education, enlightenment and care of our youth, and animal welfare.
