LSU's Russell beats out Brennan for Manning Award

Louisiana State quarterback JaMarcus Russell was selected as this year's recipient of the Manning Award, it was announced by the Sugar Bowl Committee and the Manning family.

The Manning Award, given to the nation's best quarterback, is the only quarterback award that takes into consideration the candidate's bowl performance.

University of Hawai'i junior Colt Brennan was a finalist, along with Erik Ainge of Tennessee, John David Booty of Southern California, Brian Brohm of Louisville, Chad Henne of Michigan, Chris Leak of Florida, Nate Longshore of California, Brady Quinn of Notre Dame, Troy Smith of Ohio State and Patrick White of West Virginia.
