Kamehameha's Herring earns Gatorade volleyball honor

Kanani Herring of Kamehameha Schools was named the 2006-'07 Gatorade Hawai'i Girls Volleyball Player of the Year for the second consecutive year today, the company announced.

Herring, a 5-foot, 10 inch outside hitter, helped the Warriors (36-2) repeat as Division I state champions and carries a 3.66 grade point average as well as serving as a volunteer coach and tutor with the Kalihi Valley Athletic Association, the announcement said.

Gatorade annually honors players in 50 states in several sports.
