Free public screening Friday of 'Inconvenient Truth'

Advertiser Staff

Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" will be shown at a free screening tomorrow at the Capitol Auditorium.

Sierra Club director Jeff Mikulina, who recently received training from Gore on the presentation featured in the film, will speak before the 1 p.m. screening.

The 110-minute film looks at the effects of global warming. A question and answer session and discussion will follow.

"It is critically important for Hawai'i's lawmakers to learn exactly what they will face and how it can be stopped," Mikulina said. "We hope this film will spur action."

Billed as "the most terrifying film you will ever see," Gore's film explores the impacts of humankind's continuing global experiment with greenhouse gas emissions.

State Reps. Hermina Morita (D-Hanalei) and Cynthia Thielen (R-Kane'ohe) are sponsoring the screening.

Seating will be first come, first served.
