Two Saint Louis defensive ends commit to Cal

By Wes Nakama
Advertiser Staff Writer

Advertiser All-State first team defensive ends Scott Smith and Solomona Aigamaua of Saint Louis School have made a verbal commitment to play football for the University of California next season.

Smith, a 6-foot-7, 245-pound defensive end, chose Cal over Arizona, Washington, Oregon and Hawai'i.

He visited Cal, Arizona and Washington last month and was scheduled to visit Oregon this weekend but canceled the trip. Smith had planned to consider a Hawaii visit later this month, but said Thursday, "I want to go away and experience something else."

Aigamaua, 6 feet 3 1/2 and 215 pounds, turned down scholarship offers from Oregon State, Arizona and Oregon. He visited Cal and Oregon State last month and was supposed to leave for a recruiting visit to Oregon on Thursday, but canceled after committing to Cal on Wednesday.
