60 National Guard soldiers leave for Afghanistan today

A group of approximately 60 Hawai'i Army National Guard soldiers, most of whom already served a combat tour in Iraq, have volunteered to redeploy and will be leaving at 11:30 a.m. today for Afghanistan.The volunteers, along with soldiers from the Arizona National Guard, will be assigned to train Afghan army and security forces.
The soldiers are expected to be on active duty for approximately a year. They'll be leaving from the Hawaii Army National Guard headquarters in Kalaeloa.
