Hawai'i home foreclosure rate among lowest in nation

Hawai'i had one of the lowest home foreclosure rates in the nation in December, according to Irvine, Calif.-based real-estate research firm RealtyTrac.The company said 43 Hawai'i properties were entering some stage of foreclosure last month. That worked out to one for every 10,710 households in the state, or 43rd-lowest in the country, and compared with one for every 1,055 households nationally.
The number of Hawai'i properties in foreclosure in December 2005 was 62, according to the report.
Colorado had the highest foreclosure rate last month, with one for every 376 households. Vermont had the lowest rate, with one foreclosure for every 294,382 households.
