Water break closes 'Ewa-bound lanes on Nimitz

Morning commuters are urged to avoid Nimitz Highway between Bethel and Bishop Street until a lateral pipe — an offshoot of a water main — can be repaired by the Board of Water Supply.The lateral was ruptured at 3:25 a.m. by contracted construction crew this morning.
A BWS official said the lateral was ruptured when the work crew inadvertently cut too deep into the cement.
The ruptured pipe has left just one building — at 122 Halekauwila St. — without water.
It is not known how long it will take to fix the pipe.
