Discounted fee attracts 1,094 for Honolulu Marathon

A total of 1,094 runners took advantage on the first day of a discounted entry fee period for the Honolulu Marathon Saturday at Niketown in Waikiki, according to marathon spokesman Pat Bigold.The fee during the next eight days is $20 instead of the regular fee of $125 for the Dec. 9 race.
A record 4,001 people took advantage of last year's early registration.
The early registration continues at the store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Jan. 28.
A total of 28,635 entered last year's Honolulu Marathon.
