Surf: Major new swell due here Monday night

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory remains in effect today for all east-facing shores on O'ahu, the National Weather Service said.

Surf along the eastern shores is expected to diminish today but produce waves with faces of 5 to 7 feet.

Waves are expected to reach 7 to 10 feet along the northern shores, 4 to 6 feet along western shores and 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores.

The current northwest swell will continue to diminish through Monday and be replaced by a very large swell, also from the northwest, arriving Monday night.

That swell likely will peak on Tuesday, then diminish Wednesday and Thursday. After that, no other significant swells are on the horizon.
