Shark sighting closes Hanalei Bay

Kaua'i Ocean Safety Bureau officials have announced that Hanalei Bay is closed due to the sighting of a shark in the area.The north shore beach will remain closed at least until the end of the day.
Officials will reassess the situation tomorrow morning and determine whether it is safe for the public to return to the water.
People wanting to go to the beach are urged to head for other guarded beaches around the island.
The announcement was made at 2 p.m. today.
