Police arrest two in H-1 crash

Advertiser Staff

Police today arrested a 20-year-old man and a juvenile boy who were allegedly in a stolen car involved in an early morning crash on the H-1 Freeway westbound near the Pali Highway exit.

Capt. Robert Green, acting major of the Honolulu Police Department's East Honolulu patrol district, said a patrol officer tried to pull over a speeding black 1998 two-door Acura, which was later determined to be stolen, on Punahou Street at 4 a.m. The officer lost sight of the car but the Acura crashed into a retaining wall while attempting to exit the freeway at Pali Highway a short time later.

No injuries were reported but the two people in the car fled on foot. Officers arrested the juvenile at about 4:30 a.m. on Captain Cook Avenue and located the adult in Nu'uanu near Kawananakoa Middle School at about the same time.
