Large swell expected tonight

Advertiser Staff

Surfers could call this the calm before the storm on the North Shore. Decent surf 4 to 7 feet is expected through this afternoon, but by this evening a large northwest swell is expected. Surf may reach the warning level of 25 feet on the North Shore, National Weather Service forecasters said. The large swell is expected to peak tomorrow and slowly lower through Thursday. Surf along western shores could exceed advisory levels of 12 feet.

Another large swell is expected to arrive Thursday night and peak Friday.

The rest of the surf forecast calls for surf 3 to 5 feet along west and east shores, and 1 to 3 feet along southern shores.
