State of the state

Gov. Linda Lingle will speak to a joint session of the state House and Senate today in her annual State of the State address.

The governor already has previewed three significant initiatives — $128 million in new spending on the homeless, $30 million to promote innovation in science and technology, and $346 million in tax relief — but she will try to help set the tone for the legislative session in her remarks today.

The speech is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
