As part of its Dark Night Series, Kumu Kahua Theatre presents an encore performance of "Aging is Not for Sissies ... !" The production is an eclectic array of funny and poignant monologues, "real stories told by real women," that gives the audience a first-hand glimpse into the inner workings of single women 60 to 100 years old in a culture that worships youth. The author, Pratibha Eastwood, is a Honolulu psychologist and author of "Nine Windows to Wholeness."
She began interviewing women after an epiphany just six months away from her own 65th birthday.
"I wanted to create an entertaining presentation that would challenge the myth that being over 60 means a woman is, 'over the hill with one foot in the grave!' " she said.
The show is performed in concert reader's theater style with a cast including writer/actor Pratibha Eastwood; award-winning director/actor Joyce Maltby, and award-winning actors Jo Pruden, Sylvia Hormann-Alper, Blossom Lam-Hoffman and Roshani Shay.
