Ten escape harm in Waipahu house fire

Advertiser Staff

Six adults and four children escaped uninjured from a fire tonight at a two-story Waipahu residence at 94-539 Kipou St.

Fire Department spokesman Capt. Kenison Tejada said a couple was able to go upstairs and get their young son out of a bedroom, where the fire started. The boy was treated at the scene by city Emergency Medical Services personnel for smoke inhalation, Tejada said.

Five fire companies responded to the 8:52 p.m. alarm and reported the fire under control at 9:03 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation; damage estimates were unavailable.
