TALKING ABOUT TRANSLATION

With the global village getting ever interconnected, translation is a hot topic. The University of Hawai'i English Department holds an international symposium on translation roundtable from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today in the Art Auditorium. Speaking at "Translation: Theory, Practice, Trope" will be celebrated literary theorist Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Arabic translator Hosam Aboul-Ela, Hawaiian translator Noelani Arista and UC-Santa Barbara professor Yunte Huang, who translated Ezra Pound's "The Pisan Cantos" into Chinese.
