Advertiser Staff

A longtime martial arts scholar and practitioner is giving a free lecture on Chinese martial arts today at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus.

Stanley Hennning, a UH alumni who has been practicing Chinese martial arts since the 1970s, will discuss "Traumatic Passage — The Face of Traditional Chinese Martial Arts in the 20th and 21st Centuries" from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Manoa Campus, Kuykendall 309.

Henning has written reviews, articles and book chapters on the subject, including "Academia Encounters the Martial Arts."

Henning's lecture is part of the curriculum for Vincent Pollard's "China: Asian Nations Studies" class.

A question-and-answer session will follow.

The event is open to the public.
