17 deacons to be ordained in Hawai'i by Feb. 10

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu is in the process of ordaining 17 deacons at 15 parishes. The ordinations began on Kaua'i earlier this month and will be complete on Feb. 10.Permanent deacons are allowed to celebrate certain sacraments and help out with priestly functions, including giving sermons.
The diocese also will ordain three priests June 10.
