Teen driver arrested in tie to stolen car

An 18-year-old woman was arrested in Waikiki early this morning after police found her driving a car reported as stolen.

A patrol officer saw the car blocking a lane of traffic and ran a check on its license plate number.

He learned the car had been reported stolen from its owner, a 30-year-old man.

The woman who was driving the car was then arrested on suspicion of operating a stolen car about 4:40 a.m. at the corner of Nahua Street and Kuhio Avenue.

Workers thwart apparent burglary effort

Workers at an undisclosed business in Honolulu called police about 2:15 this morning after hearing loud noises coming from the floor above.

The workers told police that as they went to investigate, a man they did not know ran past them.

Police said a subsequent check showed the office had been broken into and attempts had been made to pry open the safe on the upper floor.

Police classified the case as an attempted second-degree burglary.

Witness reports Waikiki assault incident

Police are looking for a man who punched a 26-year-old woman in the face last night in Waikiki, leaving left her lying on the pavement.

A witness to the incident called police about 10:05 p.m. to report it.

Police had not identified or located any suspects as of this morning. The woman told police she did not know the assailant.

Two men report car, currency theft

Police are investigating a complaint filed by two men, ages 24 and 25, who said were held against their will beginning at 11 p.m. last night in Makiki, and had a car and currency taken from them. No arrests had been as of this morning.
