Bail set at $75,000 for repeat offender

A 42-year-old man who allegedly drove his car at eight police officers and damaged two HPD vehicles has been charged with second degree criminal property damage and third degree promotion of a dangerous drug.

Leonard Kealoha is being held on $75,000 bail.The Kapolei Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested Kealoha on Monday in the parking lot of Lualualei Beach Park No. 2 in Wai'anae after initially seeking him out because he was wanted on a no-bail probation retake warrant.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Kealoha managed to flee initially but police, with assistance from HPD's helicopter, found his car abandon and then found Kealoha hiding in bushes nearby, where he was arrested.

Kealoha's eight convictions dating back to 1984 include first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and two auto thefts.
