HCC carpentry students giving YWCA facelift

Starting today, 13 carpentry students from Honolulu Community College will gets hands-on experience by renovating the YWCA on Richards Street.The students will knock down old cabinets and refurbish rooms with new fixtures. They'll also create additional storage space for chairs, tables and supplies.
"The students hone their skills in using construction drawings to install doors and other structures following the plans," said HCC associate professor of capentry Jeff Uyeda.
The students will work on the YWCA from 7 a.m. to noon through Feb. 1.
