State collects $263M in delinquent taxes in FY2006

The state Department of Taxation increased delinquent tax collections by 12 percent to $263.1 million in the fiscal year ended June 30, according to the agency's latest annual report.It scooped up almost $29 million more in tardy tax payments than the 2005 fiscal year in setting a new record for collections.
The department also reported the balance of what it's owed by delinquent taxpayers fell to its lowest level in four years, or $319.7 million.
