'Dragonlance' author to discuss sci-fi/fantasy genre

Advertiser Staff

Writer Margaret Weis, whose science fiction/fantasy works have sold 22 million copies worldwide and been translated into a dozen languages, will be a guest of the Hawai'i public library system next month, appearing at nine O'ahu libraries before moving on to the Big Island.

Weis is the co-creator/co-author of the New York Times best-selling "Dragonlance," "Darksword" and "Death Gate Cycle" and author of the "Dragonvarld" trilogy.

Twenty-two years ago, Weis and her partner, game designer Tracy Hickman, broke new ground in the role-playing industry with "Dragonlance" by introducing pre-generated characters, a storyline that runs through the game and adult novels that tie into the game.
