Damaged Chinese ship heading to Barbers Point harbor

Advertiser Staff

The damaged Chinese cargo ship Tong Cheng has headed to Kalaeloa Barbers Point Deep Draft Harbor for repairs, a state Department of Transportation spokesman said.

The ship was expected at the harbor by noon.

The 485-foot ship has been off Honolulu since Monday while temporary repairs were made.

State harbors officials are working with area businesses to minimize the impact the ships presence at the harbor would have on scheduled cargo arrivals and departures, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
