National flatpicking guitar champ to offer workshop

A nationally-known flatpicking guitarist, whose artistry has won him championships and bluegrass fame, will give a workshop from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 at Music Room 212, at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus.Mark Cosgrove, whose flatpicking sound is well known on both sides of the Atlantic, has won the U.S. National Flatpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kan. and also the Doc Watson Guitar Championship in Wilkesboro, N.C. He is equally proficient in any number of musical styles and as an accompanist.
Bluegrass Hawaii, Collings Guitars and Hawaii Music Supply are assisting in the workshop.
Those attending the workshop must bring their own guitars; at a minimum, strummers should know the 3-8 basic open chords, be able to strum and change chords readily and be comfortable using a pick.
