Kahalehoe, whose family moved to Las Vegas after his freshman year, had a two-run double in a six-run third inning for the defending national champion Beavers (2-0) in the scheduled seven-inning game. Darwin Barney and John Wallace also had three RBIs each for OSU.

A.J. Satele batted 3 for 3 with a solo home run for the Vulcans (0-2).

Joe Peterson (1-0-) pitched five innings for the Beavers, allowing six hits and an unearned run. Vulcans' starter Clayton Uyechi (0-1) was charged with eight runs, six hit and five walks in 2 2/3 innings.
