Homeless shelter in Kalaeloa celebrated today

Advertiser Staff

Governor Lingle will thank the individuals and organizations who worked to open and the Onelau'ena homeless shelter in Kalaeloa. The celebration will take place at noon at Washington Place.

The facility, which opened on Oct. 29, serves approximately 215 people who had been living on the beaches along O'ahu's Leeward Coast.

Onelau'ena is a partnership between the state, military, service providers and the community and is part of the Administration's efforts to address the state's homeless problem.
