Child playing with lighter started Waipahu fire

A child playing with a lighter in a bedroom started a house fire in Waipahu Tuesday, fire investigators have determined.The fire at 94-539 Kipou St. caused $15,000 in damage to the building and $15,000 to its contents, the fire department said today.
Eleven people from two households living in the two-story home got out safely.
The fire damaged a two-story rental unit and an attached one-story home that the landlord's family lives in.
