Dave Specter's jazz and blues guitar stylings have paired him with legends such as Son Seals, The Legendary Blues Band, Hubert Sumlin and more.     The groundbreaking operetta "Naupaka, A Hawaiian Love Story," left, returns to Honolulu for one night only. The Tau Dance Theatre production is performed in the Hawaiian language with English subtitles, and incorporates chant, modern dance and ballet. Based on a Hawaiian myth, it's the story of two lovers whose class differences keep them apart.

    AntiGravity, the New York City-based troupe that blends aerial acrobatics, extreme sports and urban dance, set to a pop soundtrack, will defy the laws of physics on (and above) the Hawai'i Theatre stage. The company was founded in 1990 as an entertainment outlet for athletes transitioning from their professional careers; more than 300 athletes, including national and international champions, have been in the troupe over the years.

    The classic children's book "James and the Giant Peach" comes to life in performances by current and former Windward Community College students, including Kuamu Pelekai, right, in the title role. In the Roald Dahl tale, a young orphan is given a mysterious bag that magically grows into a giant peach with a secret entrance into a world populated by insects.

    The jazz-infused River North Chicago Dance Company steps into the limelight at Leeward Community College Theatre. The 13-member troupe, whose eclectic repertoire ranges from "Habaneras," inspired by Cuban music, to "Take a Seat," in which the dancers use chairs to do everything but sit, was formed in 1989 by four dancer/choreographers.

    California's Blue Turtle Seduction, right, brings mountain grass music to Oahu for five shows. The band blends rock 'n' roll with global influences, reggae beats and a splash of punk with tunes such as "Big Belt Buckle," "Peaceful Horizon" and "T.R.T."

    Grammy-nominated blues guitar virtuoso Jonny Lang, right, who topped the Billboard New Artist chart with his first album at age 15, will perform at Pipeline Cafe.     FESTIVAL: FEB. 18

    Native storytellers from Hawai'i, Alaska and Massachusetts will gather on the Bishop Museum's Great Lawn to "talk story" in celebration of native cultures through the arts of storytelling and dance. The Mary Kawena Pukui Performing Arts Festival is themed "Harvest and the Moon" and includes dances by hula halau, music, food booths and crafts. The festival is held each year in honor of the late Pukui, a revered Hawaiian scholar.

    Vanilla Ice, right, will forever be linked to the infamous tune of "Ice Ice Baby" — hey, if you're a fan, you like it that way. The rapper, who has released three albums since the hit single, now performs a blend of hip-hop and rock. Vanilla (real name Robert Van Winkle) has had a bit of exposure on TV lately, with appearances on "Celebrity Boxing," "Surreal Life" and "Hit Me Baby One More Time."
