Storms to keep big surf rolling in

Advertiser Staff

A series of storm systems will form northwest of the Islands over the weekend and generate large swells toward the Hawaiian Islands throughout much of the new week, the National Weather Service said.

These swells may produce warning-level surf for O'ahu's north and west shores as early as Sunday night and continue into Tuesday. Following the storms will be a series of weaker low-pressure areas passing north of the Islands that will keep the surf for the north and west shores at or near the advisory level through Thursday.

Surf on Saturday is expected to reach 6 to 10 feet along north-facing shores; 3 to 6 feet along west-facing shores; 2 to 4 feet along east-facing shores and 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores.
