It's property tax time — again — on Kaua'i

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E – County officials are reminding Kaua'i property owners that the second installment of real property taxes for the 2006-2007 tax year is due Feb. 20.

Property tax bills were mailed recently to all Kaua'i property owners or their respective servicing agents.

Payments can be made by mail, in person from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., through a drop box

located outside the Lihu'e Civic Center – Kapule Building from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or online at

www.kauai.gov/paypropertytax.

Checks should be made payable to the Director of Finance. A $7.50 service fee will be charged for any dishonored check. Postdated checks will not be held until the date noted on the

check. The checks will be deposited upon receipt.

If payment is mailed in the United States, it is deemed to be received by the county on

the date shown by the post office cancellation mark stamped on the envelope or package.

Failure to pay real property taxes by the due date will result in an assessment of a 10 percent penalty, as well as 12 percent interest per year.

Property owners who pay their real property taxes directly and have not received their property tax bills should immediately inquire at the Real Property Tax Collection office at the Lihu'e Civic Center - Kapule Building, 4444 Rice St., Suite 463, or call 241-6555.
