Car filled with tires leads to theft arrest

Advertiser Staff

A 29-year-old woman was arrested Saturday afternoon at a Windward O'ahu shopping center after a police officer found her in a car, sitting next to some wheels and tires that were later identified as belonging to an adjacent car that had been reported stolen.

Police said the officer saw a car in the shopping center parking lot up on jacks with all four wheels missing at about 5 p.m. The officer did some checking and learned the car without wheels had been reported stolen from an automobile rental company.

The officer noticed the woman sitting in a car with four rims and tires inside. The car with the woman and tires was parked right next to the car missing its tires.

The officer then arrested the woman on suspicion of detaining stolen property.
