Honolulu's McLachlin finishes 23rd, earns $42,770

Former Honolulu resident Parker McLachlin shot a 2-under-par 70 Sunday and finished tied for 23rd in the Buick Invitational in San Diego.

McLachlin, a Punahou School alumnus in his first year on the PGA Tour, had three birdies and one bogey on the Torrey Pines South Course in earning $42,770.

McLachlin started on the back nine, bogeying the No. 14 hole and recording a birdie on No. 18 to make the turn at even-par 36. He birdied Nos. 2 and 6 to close at 2-under 34.

He finished the four-day tournament at 5-under 283.

Tiger Woods shot 6-under 66 — the lowest round of the day — to rally from two strokes behind the leaders and won by two shots over Charles Howell III. Woods finished 15-under 273.
