UH first baseman Sanchez is WAC Hitter of the Week

Hawai'i first baseman Kris Sanchez has been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week, respectively, the WAC announced Monday.

Sanchez, a senior from Tucson, Ariz. (Central Arizona CC), was 7-for-11 (.636) in three games for the Rainbows last week. In the season opener against Santa Clara on Friday, he batted 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. On Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with another double. For the week, he had three doubles, scored three runs, drove in three and was walked three times. It is Sanchez's first career WAC Hitter of the Week award.

The WAC Pitcher of the Week was Nevada righthander Mario Rivera. The other pitcher of the week nomination was senior Ian Harrington of Hawaii.
