TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Suburban Secrets" debut, 8 p.m., Court TV. In 1991, a woman called police in Conway, S.C., to say her 17-year-old daughter, Crystal Todd, hadn't come home. She got a warm response. After all, the 911 operator had also been Crystal's piano teacher. Life is like that in a small town, where crises are taken personally. When Crystal's body was found, police thought they knew the culprit; then came stunning surprises. This launches an interesting show, viewing crime in quiet places. We'll forgive the stylized narration (a "Desperate Housewives" copy) and even the title of the show. As it happens, Conway isn't a suburb. (It's a city of 11,800, about 15 miles inland from Myrtle Beach.) Still, it provides an involving start for "Suburban Secrets."

"24," 8 p.m., Fox. A new character, played by Chad Lowe, shows up. He's Reed Pollock, the assistant to presidential chief of staff Thomas Lennox (Peter MacNicol). Now his schemes complicate things.

OF NOTE

"Lincoln Heights," 7 p.m., ABC Family. Eddie and his police partner learn of human-trafficking.

Miss America pageant, 6 p.m., CMT. Once a network powerhouse, the pageant has now been consigned to cable. Mario Lopez hosts.

"The Class," 7:30 p.m., CBS. Last week, straight-arrow Ethan actually lied: He was so impressed by a beauty that he took the identity of her blind date. In a funny episode tonight, the lie gets harder to retain when they go to a party that includes people he knows.

"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. Alan wants to fight Kandi. Then he learns she has the same nasty lawyer his first wife had.

"Heroes," 8 p.m., NBC. Some key guest stars show up, including George Takei (from the original "Star Trek") as Hiro's father and Christopher Eccleston (last year's "Doctor Who") as a guy with invisible powers. Meanwhile, Claire seeks her biological parents.

"Angels Fall," 7 p.m., Lifetime. Here's a fairly good start to a weekly series of four movies based on Nora Roberts' novels. Heather Locklear is excellent as a mysterious woman trying to escape a past tragedy. She ends up in a gorgeous Wyoming town — and in a new mystery. The final minutes require too much contrivance; until then, however, this is a well-acted drama in a beautiful setting.

"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," 9:01 p.m., NBC. Danny and Jordan (Bradley Whitford and Amanda Peet) are accidentally locked on the roof, unable to reach a party honoring Harriet.

"Suburban Secrets," 8:30 p.m., Court TV. This second new episode involves a tale of home invaders in Olathe, Kan.
